On November 10, 2017, the first editorial board meeting of journal Forestry and Environmental Science was held in Guangdong Academy of Forestry. Chen Junqin, the member of Party Group and Counsel-Director of Forestry Administration of Guangdong Province; Lin Xin, the Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Communication of Forestry Administration of Guangdong Province; Qiu Zuowang and Zhang Xinjie, the Director and Deputy Director of Guangdong Province Forestry Technology Extension Station attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Qian, the Deputy Director of Guangdong Academy of Forestry.

The theme of the meeting is "establishing the high-quality journal, promoting forestry science and technology innovation". The forefront of forestry and environmental science development was discussed in the meeting. The editorial department invited professor Wang Guangyu, professor Meng Fanrui, professor Gong Meng and professor Xing Zisheng as the guest editors. The new journal will focus on publishing basic theoretical research and quality output on the area of forestry and environmental science, with the purpose of building a high-level forestry research and publication platform, promoting the exchange of forestry research at home and abroad, and enhancing the international influence of Chinese forestry research.

The Counsel-Director Chen Junqin delivered a speech and pointed that the launching of the journal Forestry and Environmental Science established an academic communication platform and satisfied the Chinese forestry researchers' concern. He hoped that the new journal would serve the mission of "spreading China's voice and expanding international academic communication" and play an important role in the spread of forestry technology, as well as accelerate the process of forestry informationization and facilitate the construction of preponderant subject and innovative team in Guangdong forestry science.

Li Xiaochuan, the chief editor of Forestry and Environmental Science, said that the launching of the journal dedicates a great gift for the new era of Guangdong forestry. It is also a milestone in the development of Guangdong forestry journal. The journal will become a bridge between the development of Guangdong modern technology and science and international frontier. Dr. Ding Xiaogang, the executive editor-in-chief of the journal, introduced the launching background of Forestry and Environmental Science, as well as the aims and scope of the journal. He also gave a prospect of the journal in the next few years. During the meeting, Professor Wang Guangyu, Professor Gong Meng, Professor Meng Fanrui and Professor Xing Zisheng made brilliant academic presentations. After the meeting, all attendees took a group photo.

The launching of Forestry and Environmental Science marks a new era in the journal history. It is an important milestone in the development of Guangdong Academy of Forestry and plays a significant role in promoting academic level in the Guangdong forestry academic field.
