Abstract:
In order to further optimize the clonal lines and select resin-wood dual-purpose lines. In this study, 54 masson pine clonal lines growing at seed orchard were used as experimental materials. Height (HT), diameter at breast height (DBH), resin yield (RY) of the those lines have been measured. Volume of wood (VW), resin-yielding capacity (RYC) have been calculated. Character analysis of those lines would provide a basis for building masson pine resin-wood dual-purpose breeding population. The results showed that there were limited changes in each trait among different lines. Variance components in clonal lines almost equaled to that in experiment error. Hence, masson pine phenotype may be influenced by both heridity and environment. Repeatability of HT, DBH, VW, RY and RYC reached to 0.693, 0.792, 0.793, 0.873, 0.836 respectively. Growth phenotypes DBH and VW were significantly correlated with resin related phenotypes. Eighteen resin-wood dual purpose lines such as PM1, PM6, PM9 have been selected according to VW and RYC. Average expected gains of these lines reached to 26.19% and 28.79% respectively. These lines would make a positive contribution to masson pine breeding in the future.
