| 2012年在粤北华南虎省级自然保护区开展了莽山烙铁头蛇的孵化和饲养试验。2012年7月1—2日从7枚蛇卵中成功孵化获得3条幼蛇，测量和记录幼蛇体长和比重的变化以了解其生长情况。3条幼蛇于2012年11月23日死亡，通过解剖和细菌分离培养发现，人工灌食和细菌感染是幼蛇死亡的主要原因。 |

| Abstract: |
| An experiment of artificial incubation and feeding of Protobothrops mangshenensis was carried out in 2012 in South China Tiger Nature Reserve, north Guangdong. 3 snakelets of P. mangshenensis were incubated from 7 eggs on July 1st or 2nd, 2012. The weight and length of were recorded to know the growth of snakelets. All three snakelets were dead on November 23rd 2012. Through dissecting as well as bacterial isolation and culture, force feeding and bacterial infection were the major reasons of snakelets′ death. |
